Smart little man

Ryan and I are lucky enough to have a very intelligent 18 month old. He repeats everything we say and do. He amazes me every single day with the new things he learns and does. Not only is he smart, but he is very observant as well. When Reggie's water or food bowl is empty he will carry them in to us and say "more drink". I just can't believe that he would know something like that at his age. Well to add to this story...Nick was hanging out with Reggie at the sight of his food and water dishes. We heard a loud slurping sound. We looked over and Nick was on all fours drinking out of Reggie's water bowl. I know it is disgusting and we needed to redirect him so that he would not try it again, but who could not laugh out loud at something like that. He definitely keeps things interesting in our household.

Picking up bad habits...

Nick has been going around saying Wii, Wii, Wii. When we play he mimics our actions and tries to play too.
We decided to give him a controller so that he could feel like he is in the action too. I think I am starting bad habits already.

Bath Time Buddies

Every time Nick or I take a bath, Reggie will whine at the edge of the tub. He wants to get in so bad.
Well tonight he got his way. I am not too sure if he liked it or not, but I killed two birds with one stone and gave both Nick and Reggie a bath.
Looks like a wet rat doesn't he?

The winners are......

Michael Johns...who wouldn't like a guy with two first names. The rumor is that his followers call themselves the Aussie Posse.
Carly Smithson...She has it going on for sure. I think she will go far in this competition even though her first album sold less than 200 copies. Oops

Spell Check Is Back

After a LONG time and many misspelled words spell check seems to be back up and running!!!!

Do you watch Big Brother?

My name is Amanda and I am a reality show junkie....I love reality TV. I just can't get enough of it. I got Ryan hooked on both Big Brother and Idol. Now he can't get enough of it either. I think season 9 of Big Brother is going to be quite interesting. I loved Parker...too bad he had an idiot for a partner. I don't know who I am gonna root for now.

My Top Six Picks

Last night Ryan and I finally got caught up on our shows. (Thank goodness for tivo) After reading a posting on Sarah Sez I do have to agree that the women were mostly boring. I am disappointed that they all picked somewhat sappy slow songs to sing. We are now down to twenty contestants and here are my picks for the top six in random order.
Syesha Mercado

Robbie Carrico

Ramiele Malubay

Michael Johns

Jason Castro

Carly Smithson
I think this should turn out to be a very interesting year of idol. I was bored in the begining, but now I can't wait for Tuesday to roll around. Vote in my poll to see which of my top six you prefer.

Ice, Ice Go Away!!!

Although it is not quite like this yet, we are getting nailed with ice, sleet and freezing rain. I reallly hope it doesn't get as bad as it did last year when we lost power for over a week. Nick was just 3 months old and we had to travel to my moms house because we had no heat. Thankfully we now have a gas fireplace. If the electric goes out we can keep warm for a while. There is almost two inches of the frozen stuff on the ground right now.

He's obsessed

Its not his birthday, but this little boy just can't seem to go a day without a balloon. When I picked this one out I didn't realize how big it was. It is really funny to see Nick run around with this thing while Reggie chases him. Who knew a balloon could keep a child entertained for so long. (Helps me to get the house cleaned)

Just Couldn't Wait

Nick loves to take a bath so much that he thought he would wash his clothes while he was at it.
At least he likes to be clean.

My mom has pictures just like this of me when I was a kid.

Something to check out

Tonight there will be a total eclipse of the moon. This will not happen again until December 20, 2010. In North America we will be able to see the eclipse in totality. The Earth will start to cover the moon at 7:43 p.m. and it will be totally covered by 9:01 p.m. The complete coverage of the moon will last for 51 minutes. In the middle of the eclipse the moon could turn up to be brown, orange, crimson or brick red. This is something to keep your kids up for, not to mention it starts early enough that they will be able to track the progress. You should also be able to see saturn approximately eight moon spaces to the right of the moon. Maybe I can get some good pictures if the clouds stay away.

How Scary is this?

This happened at the school I attend the day after the NIU shootings. The spooky thing is that I have passed this young man in the hall many times and even sat next to his table during lunch! Talk about SCARY....what is our world coming to?

Police arrest SWIC student who threatened to shoot others on campus
BY BETH HUNDSDORFER
News-Democrat
BELLEVILLE --A Southwestern Illinois College student faces charges after police said he threatened to shoot students at the Belleville campus on Friday.
Steven E. Ellis, 21, of 300 Warrensburg, near Belleville, was charged Saturday with one count of falsely making a terrorist threat.
Ellis approached another student Friday and attempted to recruit him in a plan to shoot SWIC students in a plot similar to the shootings at Northern Illinois University the day before, St. Clair County Sheriff's Capt. Steve Johnson said.
"The individual that he spoke to didn't want anything to do with the plot and immediately told the college's Public Safety Department," Johnson said.
Officials in the department then called the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department, who immediately sent investigators to the campus to pick up Ellis for questioning, Johnson said.
Investigators said they did not know whether Ellis was serious about his plans, but that they were taking the threat seriously.
While Investigator Mike Hundelt interviewed Ellis, other investigators searched Ellis' home, Johnson said.
"We found nothing to substantiate the threat," Johnson said, noting if any weapons or plans were found, Ellis could face a stiffer felony charge that carries a possible penalty of up to 30 years in prison.
Ellis remains in the St. Clair County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
SWIC officials released a statement Saturday regarding Ellis arrest:
"Southwestern Illinois College has a comprehensive safety policy and procedures in place that brought this to light in a most timely manner," the release stated.
"This case was handled successfully because of the cooperation of the Southwestern Illinois College Public Safety Department and the Sheriff's Department," Johnson said. "We don't want people to be afraid to send their kids to classes, that's why we will act aggressively in pursuing threats at college campuses."
Further investigation revealed Ellis, who wore black and dressed in "gothic" fashion, stated he wanted to shoot "everyone who was not gothic," Johnson said.
The goth subculture began in the 1980s as an offshoot of the punk music scene and has influences on fashion, hair and makeup styles and music.
The day before police said Ellis made the threats, five students were killed when Steven Kazmeircak, a former NIU student, walked into a geology class and started firing a gun.
In July, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville student Olutosin "Tosin" Oduwole was charged with making a terrorist threat after police said he ordered several semiautomatic weapons and then found a threat scrawled on a piece of paper in his car, threatening a "murderous rampage."
The note also referenced the shootings at Virginia Tech University last year.

I think this is how my husband feels!!!

Time to Start Potty Training?

I am not sure, but I think maybe it is time to start potty training. I went to the mailbox the other day and when I came back in the house Nick had his shirt up and was pulling at his dipar saying poop. Low and behold he had done just that. Is this an indication that he is ready for some potty time? We bought a potty a few weeks ago, but have not "forced" it on him yet. A lot of my family believe in going by the phases of the moon. Heck anything is worth a try. Lets hope this is easier than I have been told.

Happy Anniversary

I would like to wish my brother Michael and sister in law Amy a very Happy 4th Anniversary...and many more. Love you guys.

Happy Valentines Day to You and Yours

My crazy kids playing with my balloon.
Nick with his little bobble head tiger.

and his little balloon. He is crazy about balloons. Ryan and I decided we got the Wii and that was plenty for the big heart day. He did however get me a really sweet card and took me to Fridays to eat. What a man!

We Have a Bark....

We have had Reggie for almost a month now and we have never heard him bark...until tonight! Ryan was sitting on the bed while I was blogging and low and behold the little doggie let out a bark while Ryan was wiggling his feet at him. I am glad to know his barker isn't broken. I just wish he would get his leaky faucet fixed.

Bath Time???

Nick loves to take a bath.
I didn't realize how much until I have noticed in the past couple of days that when I can't find him I just look in the bathtub.

He is so funny. He had a nice little fo-Hawk (would spell this correctly if my stupid spell check would work) but by this time of the evening just looks a lot like bedhead.

Maybe I should have asked for a dictionary for Valentines Day!

Little Bucket Head

This is Nick's new favorite hat. It is an empty Boy Scouts popcorn bucket. We played marching band the other day with a pan and wooden spoon and he had to have a hat. This was the first thing I found. He likes to just wear it around for fun now. I found him sitting in his play area yesterday with the bucket on his head and he was trying to put a hat on top of it. Wish I could have gotten to my camera quicker. It was definately a Kodak moment.

A few words for my mom

My mom's newest rounds of Chemo have been a little more challenging than the past so I wanted to give her a few words of inspiration to help her keep her head up. I love you!!!
What Cancer Cannot Do
Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode Faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the spirit.

Coming Soon...

Aunt Judy has been patiently waiting for more pictures of Nick. As soon as I get the camcorder charged up so I can download pictures I will post a few later this evening. Here are a few from last year around this time till I can post some more.

We finally got it!!!!

After days of calling Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, Toys R Us, Gamestop, Slackers and whoever else..... we have finally landed a Nintendo Wii game system. I cannot believe how hard it was to get this system when it is not even Christmas time. Ryan and I played the system at my cousins house this weekend and we knew we had to have one. We were both VERY sore for two days. It is actually really good exersize. I even hear they are putting them in nursing homes to help get the elderly a little exersize. We will let you know how we feel in the next few days.

Super Monday

The majority of readers would like to have a holiday the Monday following the Super Bowl. I wonder what you would do with an extra day off of work.

Max and Emme

It is rumored that Jlo and Marc Anthony have had thier twins. Supposedly the names of the new bundles are Max and Emme. Wonder how long it will take TMZ to report if the rumor is true or not.

Troubles with spell check?

Are any of you having troubles with spell check? I have posted about ten things and for some reason my spell check is not cooperating. So I hope you all forgive me for any mistakes I have made while posting. Let me know if there may be a solution for me.
