A Night Out With Adults

Last night we celebrated our neighbor Kevin's birthday. We went to the new casino in STL called Lumiere Place to eat dinner and just hang out with adults. Nine of us went. In the new casino there are five different places you can choose to eat. The most talked about restaurant was SLeeK. When Rachel checked on the website it said that it was still not in operation so we had planned on eating at Asia. (Asian cuisine) Anyway, when we got there to our surprise SLeeK was open, however we could not get a seat until 10:00 pm. We all agreed we were not very hungry yet so we could wait to eat. It was 8:00 at this time so we decided to go to the globar and have a drink and maybe try our luck at the slot machines. When 10:00 rolled around we could not wait to try out this new place.

Talk about fancy...I know I live in STL, but I guess I don't get out much. I know I cannot do justice to this place without pictures, but I will try.

We walked into the very dimly lit restaurant where everything was well...SLeeK. Most everything was black or silver. Our table was a very long butcher block table and everything on the table was perfectly arranged. Real napkins etc. The silverware was awesome. I wish I could have slipped a few of their steak knifes into my purse. I decided this was not the place to do this.

My husband is a very picky eater. Meat and Potatoes and that's it. When I opened the menu I knew we had come to the wrong place for him. For me...Everything looked good. The only drawback was the price. WOW!!!!!!!!!

Ryan decided on the burger. When he asked the waiter what came on it the waiter responded by saying..."You cannot have cheese". No Cheese? On a $22 hamburger? I thought my husband would pass out. I ordered the Cesar salad (because we really couldn't afford anything else on the menu). When our food arrived it was like something out of a movie or the food network.

Everything was presented so nicely. My dressing came in a test tube for example and my plate was decorated with raspberry sauce. Ryan's burger was however the BEST burger I have ever eaten. The food was sooooo good, but reminded me of the credit card commercial where the couple goes out to dinner at the restaurant where you have to know someone to get in and they end up stopping at the gas station on the way home to get more food because the portions were so small.

Anyway we did have a fantastic time. Had we known that the menu was so EXPENSIVE we could have saved a little money and tried something else on the menu. (lobster or steak perhaps). I don't think there was anything under $30 on the menu and that did not include your salad or vegetable. That was all extra.

Here is a picture of our chef.
This is chef Hubert Keller. He is a world renowned chef and I do have to say his food was fabulous... and it was nice to feel kinda rich for a night!!!!!!!
