Spooky Treats for the Trickers

Yesterday I had the pleasure of letting little man help me to make cupcakes and decorate them. We did not have many little goblins last year so we figured it would be the same this year. I made a few cupcakes just in case. I know they say you shouldn't let them lick the batter spoon, but i am still alive so it cant be that bad. Aren't the little ghosts so cute. They were really fun to make too. Nick definitely has a taste for chocolate. Kinda explains the cravings while i was pregnant.

Chili Cook Off

Our hats off to Johnny who had the best chili. Great taste with a little kick. Hope you enjoy your goodie basket. This is Johnny with his wife Jen.

Ryan and I, along with our neighbors Kevin and Rachel had a Chili cook off last Saturday. We invited some friends and invited them to make their own chili if they thought they could win. Here are all the girls. Looks like a rowdy group huh? My friend and neighbor Rachel is in the pink shirt next to me and my friend Brandy is next to her.

We ended up having six different chili's...all with a very different taste. Maybe this will be an annual event. A good time seemed to be had by all. This is a picture of Ryan and his friend Mark enjoying the fire.

This is Kevin. Not too sure what he is doing, but hey looking snazzy anyway.

We're Baaack

I am finally back in business. I was not sure what to do with myself not posting things on a daily basis. I had a HUGE Anatomy test to study for and Nick really wanted to help me. Needless to say i had to study after he went to bed. He was too much help. Ha. Ha.

So You Think You're Tough?

Last night Ryan and Nick were throwing around the football but Nick wanted to wrestle. I am pretty sure that he got the best of Daddy.

Feeling a Little Better

I think Nick is finally out of the woods. He is not 100%, but he is so much better than he was a few days ago. We still don't have the test results back for salmonella though. Lets hope that's not the case.

I Needed Some Go Juice.

When we went to bed last night, we thought we might be in the clear. Boy were we wrong. I woke up to Nick getting sick again this morning, only this time it was much worse then the past few days. I finally called the doc and decided to take him to the ER at Children's in STL. They are great. Nick got his first I.V. and seems to be doing much better. We will see what tomorrow brings. They are checking him for Salmonella because of the turtle we have. I guess it may be so long Tur Tur. P.S. This is his hospital gown, not a dress.
Poor baby...he is normally so energetic. It is hard to see him like this.

The only thing he has been able to keep down are Popsicles, crackers and Gatorade.

Hanging out in my Elmo chair.

Peek a Boo

I did this to Nick one time and now he does it to me constantly. I was sitting at the bar doing my homework and i heard this little giggle. When i turned around he was looking at me through his legs laughing. How cute is that?

Sick, Sick Little Boy

Nick is fighting a bad case of the flu. We have not slept much because the poor little boy has been sick since we got home on Sunday. He luckily has been drinking so he is not too dehydrated, but this was definitely not fun. Hope you all stay well and don't catch this bug.

Just Because

I am so glad that you are all enjoying this blog as much as I am. It is so much fun and I look forward to reading the comments everyday. I try to post new things as often as possible, so sorry to my faithful blogees who were deprived this weekend while i was away. I will try to not make that a habit. Love you all and thanks for the fun.

Little Bruiser

Nick stayed with my brother and sister in law on Saturday when Ryan and I were at the game. Amy said they played outside all day (which Nick loves) and in the midst of the excitement little man scraped his lips on the concrete. He looks like he has gotten into my lipstick doesn't he?

Miiiichigan!

We traveled to Campaign this weekend to watch the Illinois/Michigan college football game. Ryan has opened up a whole new division of football for me. We had so much fun and thankfully Michigan won. We beat Illinois 27 to 17. What a good game we saw. I do have to say though it was hard for me not to sing and clap along with the cheers considering we are HUGE Illinois basketball fans.

Michigan / Illinois Game

Steve, Ryan, Taylor and I went to the Illinois/Michigan game on Saturday. We got there early to cook and play washers. We all had a really great time. I tried to take pictures at the game, but this is the only one I got. We didn't stop for batteries and unfortunately that was a mistake. Michigan won so two of the four of us were happy. Sorry Uncle Steve. Anyway, a great time was had by all.
Taylor was a little chilly so i gave her my Michigan jersey to wear. Uncle Steve didn't like it very well, but he was a good sport. Needless to say by the end of the day Taylor had a new Illinois jersey.

Ryan and Taylor.

I am the Newest Member

On Friday night, I was inducted into the National Honor Society. I hate to brag on myself, but i honestly cannot believe i have been able to accomplish this. I never thought I would say that I was asked to be a part of something like this. I am gonna toot my own horn and say I am very proud of myself.
The Twinkies.

The Martin Trio.

All the Martins.

So They Say its Your Birthday!!!!!

I know it is probably not the best thing in the world to do, but on Friday when my mom and nephew were over we went to Chevy's and "pretended" it was Xander's birthday. He really wanted a sombrero. Doesn't he look cute. I sure hope no one turns us in.

Two Handsome Boys

Last Friday, my mom and nephew Xander came over to spend the day with me. Nick really looks up to his cousins. As you can see i think they are fond of him as well.

Making a Wish

The night we carved our pumpkin we took Nick outside and lit it. He thought it was really neat that there was light coming from the pumpkin. He took the top off and glanced inside to see what was making the light. When he noticed the candle he would say "hot". He then tried to blow the candle out. He actually did get the flame out. We have been teaching him what hot means. Nick grabbed the candle and learned first hand. No he was not hurt, but he did want me to inspect his hand.

Homesick Nick

Nick came home a day early from Ma maw's house. He got a little homesick. He was so glad to see me and Ryan. I knew i missed him, but i didn't really know how much until i saw his sweet little face. He too likes the washer game except he thinks he is supposed to put his shoes in the holes.

Nick's First Pumpkin Carving

Nick picked out his pumpkin...
Then he helped me get the middles out...Eating some along the way....

Then we carved it to resemble a ghost....

Now we have to wait to light it so we can see how it looks.

Too Tired to Move

The other night we put Nick to bed and finished watching our Saturday night television. Before we went to bed we checked on Nick and this was how he was laying. I think this little boy could sleep anywhere.

The Gordons

Here are a few of the pictures i took for my cousin over the weekend. We had so much fun taking the pictures. I am really thinking about taking this on a a hobby on the side. I really enjoy doing it so if anyone is interested in letting me practice let me know.

Talledega Nights

Last weekend my mom, step dad and Aunt and cousin went to Talladega to the race. Jeff Gordon of course won. My mom and step dad had to rub it in since my aunt and cousin like Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne.

Here's my step dad in a good lookin car!
Gordon takes the checkered flag. Well not exactly in this picture, but he did take the flag.

Spooky

When i went to my mom's on Sunday i went early to take pictures of my cousins children. They have their yard decorated for Halloween and Nick wanted to kiss the spooks. How sweet to see the world through the eyes of a child. He thinks even spooks need love.

Hillbilly Washers III

Here are the completed washer boards. Ryan wants to play every night. I just hope he doesn't wear me out before Saturday. All the hard work we did painting is being chipped off every time we throw the washers. Ryan feels it just gives them character. I on the other hand feel like we should paint them again before we go. I am sure he will win out on this one.

The New Bike

A couple of months ago my brother was re=ended while riding his bike to work. He fortunately was okay, his bike however did not fair so well. After much time shopping trying to find just the right bike the Massey's have landed one. Congrats on the new bike and remember your leathers. I think they may have save you lots of road rash. Happy riding!

Over the River and Through the Woods....

My mom called me a few days ago and said she had a favor to ask me. She does not have a treatment this week and wondered if she could keep Nick for a few days. She has not got to keep him much as she has been sick pretty much since he was born. Nick was helping me pack his things and was ready to go. I spent the day with my mom on Sunday and left Nick in her hands. I hope she knows what she is getting her self into..(just remember mom i am only a phone call a way) Wink, Wink. Hope the two of you have a blast this week.

Starting Young

My, my does that face say ornery or what? Like father like son i guess. The girls want us to bring a blown up picture back so that they can put it on the wall. By the way, They do have great food.

Nick had a blast at hooters as you can see. He was good for the entire three hours we were there. Seems like you can take this baby anywhere.

Go Blue

As i am sure most of you know, Ryan is a huge Michigan fan. We as a family dress up every Saturday in anticipation for the "Big Game". This Saturday our local cable company did not carry the game so Ryan, Nick and I went to eat lunch and watch the game....where other than hooters. Nick had a blast and of course the waitresses loved him.

Hillbilly Washers II

Here i am trying to be creative and paint a big M for Michigan. I keep telling Ryan that i am going to root for Illinois because he rooted for the Cowboys when we went to the Bears game....He doesn't find that amusing at all.

Nick is just enjoying the view. He liked watching us paint. I think he would have loved to do it himself if we would have let him.

The boards are coming along quite nicely. We decided to paint on side of the boards in Michigan colors and the other in Illinois colors. Uncle Steve is afraid someone may stomp on them at the game. Hope he is wrong.

Breakfast Ritual

Nick and i have a breakfast ritual (i probably should not have started). I will make him breakfast and he will sit in the living room and watch cartoons. As you can see he has a little rocking chair that he absolutely adores. This chair was my mothers when she was little, mine when i was little and now it belongs to little mister. You should see him try to rock in ti. It is quite funny.
