Super Bowl Monday Anyone?

Ryan told me about this website and I just couldn't believe it. It is an actual pettition to get the Monday after the Super Bowl to be a national holiday. You can check out the pettition at https://www.superbowlmonday.com/sign_petition.cfm
I have included the some of the information here for you to check out. I think if you are interested the pettition has to be signed by tomorrow. All I can say is WOW...is this for real?

Super Bowl Sunday is not just an ordinary day in America. It has gained a significance that transcends the game itself. It is a shared, nationwide event, organized around a single stage at a single time. We are petitioning for the Super Bowl to take its next step into American History: A National Holiday.

In the US alone over 100 million people will gather to watch and celebrate the Super Bowl. It is annually the most-watched single-day sporting event in the world, with a global audience estimated at more than 1 billion.

The game's intrigue is partially due to the finality of its outcome. Unlike other professional sports leagues that decide their champion in a series, the NFL decides its champion with one game that it calls the Super Bowl. This winner-takes-all format adds to the drama of the game and sets the stage for an exciting finale to each NFL season. The game is played in a warm-weather or indoor stadium that is home to neither of the playing teams.

For Super Bowl Sunday, we make special plans with family and friends much the same as we do for Thanksgiving, New Years, Christmas, and the Fourth of July. It has the celebration of New Year's, explosiveness of the Fourth of July, the packaging of Christmas and the feast of Thanksgiving.

Half of Americans plan well ahead for Super Bowl Sunday, usually before the final teams have even been determined. On average, Super Bowl plans are made 41 days in advance. By comparison, New Year's plans are made 35 days in advance; anniversary plans are made 30 days in advance; birthday plans are made 25 days in advance.

SuperBowlMonday.com is petitioning our state and federal governments to make make Super Bowl Sunday a new National Holiday, with observation on Monday following the big game.
